Novak Construction served as General Contractor for multiple Target projects that range from new, ground-up pre-cast and masonry buildings to multiple open-store remodels. The stores’ interiors included a grocery area with a Starbucks Cafe, as well as an electronics, pharmacy and one-hour photo departments. Each location received new electrical, mechanical and refrigeration systems, plus new flooring, wall finishes and decor.
The ground-up Chicago location was awarded LEED Silver. Novak implemented BIM, a system using three-dimensional imaging to coordinate architectural, structural and MEP elements to avoid costly conflicts in the field.
Novak also provided General Contractor and Design-Build services for the first Target Express store in Downtown Chicago. This project received the Gold Award of Excellence by ARE, the industry’s largest and most prestigious retail store design awards program.
In addition, Novak has completed (36) PFresh remodel projects, (16) Innovation remodel projects and (2) Freshii restaurant additions. Following the PFresh protoype allowed for the expansion of the grocery selection by an upwards of 200-percent. These store re-configurations and expansions had multiple construction phases to keep the disturbance to a minimum while these stores remained open for business.
